History:

In The Beginning:
Skydiving at Pepperell Airport began in the late 1950's. The first commercial drop zone at Pepperell was opened in 1971 by Ted Strong of Strong Enterprises. Over the years a number of other owners kept the skydiving business going.

Twin Otter History:
Its been said that Pepperell was the first commercial drop zone in the country to use the DeHavilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter for skydiving purposes.

While there is some dispute on which DZ really was "the first," there is no doubt that Pepperell was an early adopter of the Twin Otter.

Present Day:
In 1991 the current owners began running the operation and soon after Skydive Pepperell obtained a 21 place Twin Otter aircraft on a full-time basis.

The 60+ acre airport has been attentively groomed to provide a lush grassy landing area that is flat and free of obstacles. Skippy's Drop-In Cafe provides food and beverages to the crowd throughout the day. The Parachute Shop, which is located on-site, provides a climate controlled rigging loft and gear store for jumper convenience.
